Today she is going to share a tutorial on an adorable altered canvas that she made. As soon as Miss Tracy released the Your Time To Shine FPK and Nat and I saw this little beauty in the inspiration gallery, we KNEW we wanted to feature it for you guys.

Kit Supplies Needed:

6x12 Canvas

Reverse Confetti Stamp Set—Shine On

Chipboard Hearts

Buttons and Sequins

Linen/Gold Thread

Clear Plastic Flower

Papers from Kit Measurements:

White—5 ¾ x 11 ¾

Green Diamond—6 ¾ x 2 ¼

Green—2 ¾ x 4 ¼

Gold Chevron—2 ¾ x 1 ¼

Gold Circles—“Fussy-cut” continuous strip of 5 circles by 2 circles. Punch centers out with ¾” circle punch (save a few of the punch outs for embellishments).

Gold Chevron—Use a star punch for one star

Additional Tools/Supplies Needed:

¾” Circle Punch

Star Punch

Sewing Machine/White Thread

Stripe Stencil (mine is from Heidi Swapp)

Acrylic Paint/Brushes for canvas and lighter parts of heart (mine is Craft Smart—Ocean Breeze)

Acrylic Paint/Brushes for darker outline of heart (mine is Delta Ceramcoat—Emerald Green)

Mint Green, Gold and Silver Shine Spray (mine is Heidi Swapp)

Gold Paint Dauber (mine is Tim Holtz—Distress Paint in Tarnished Brass)

Sage green/aqua inkpad (mine is Sage Shadow from SU!)

Foam Boosters

Liquid Glue (mine is Scotch Quick-dry)

Hot Glue Gun

Black Sharpie Marker

1. Paint front and edges of canvas with lighter acrylic paint (Ocean Breeze) and set aside to dry.

2. Paint a long skinny heart on the white paper with lighter acrylic paint (Ocean Breeze) first. It helps to have a “dry” brush for an extra “faded” effect. Then go over the main heart outline in the darker paint (Emerald Green), until you like what you see!

3. Use the striped stencil and spray gold shine spray over the top left and bottom right of paper. This is an outside activity! Overspray is ok.

4. Splatter gold, silver and mint green shine sprays onto paper over heart and stenciled areas by unscrewing top and tapping the nozzle over desired places.

5. Go around the edge of the paper with the gold paint dauber, then set aside and let the whole thing dry for a bit.

6. While it’s drying, stamp crowns repeatedly onto green diamond paper piece with sage green ink and then go around edges with gold paint dauber.

7. Using liquid glue, adhere gold circle piece to large white painted paper towards the left edge, just down from the middle (see pics).

8. Use liquid glue to adhere diamond/crown paper over circles, toward left side, leaving circles showing (see pics).

9. After that glue has dried, sew a ¼” seam allowance around entire edge of white painted paper. Then sew 4-5 continuous circles in upper section of heart, over crown/diamond and circle papers. No need to be perfect!

10. Distress green cardstock piece around the edges with fingernails or paper distresser. Layer small gold chevron piece in upper right corner and glue to green piece. Then layer picture over that, leaving 3 “matted” sides. Attach to white painted base with foam boosters over crown/diamond piece (see pics).

11. Sponge sage green ink onto medium heart chipboard. Layer star, open heart and medium heart chipboard in bottom left corner of picture with liquid glue and foam boosters. Add punched circle and twine-tied button to the top of this cluster with liquid and hot glue.

12. Use black Sharpie marker to handwrite a sentiment or title.

13. Use liquid glue to adhere paper to canvas.

14. Randomly glue/hot glue punched circles, buttons, sequins, plastic flower, and mini heart where desired. Lift corners of small papers where desired for dimension. Add random black dots with Sharpie marker until “done”.
